Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute

Patients will find a wealth of educational and research information through the Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute, located on the hospital's ground floor.

The SBC Community Resource Center

Located inside the Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute is the SBC Community Resource Center. The Resource Center's six interactive kiosks with simple touch-screen technology, two general-use computers with Internet access and consumer health reference books allow patients and their families to gather valuable heart and vascular health information. With the touch-screen technology, visitors can easily view videos such as "Understanding Your Angiogram" or "Living with Your Pacemaker." Free educational brochures are also available through the Resource Center.

Through the Resource Center, you can take part in a variety of free health screenings including:

  • Cholesterol
  • Blood pressure
  • Body-composition analysis
  • Cardiac risk assessment

The SBC Community Resource Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more, visit the Resource Center on the hospital's ground floor or call (214) 820-7500.

The Mary Ann and Richard Cree Auditorium

A variety of educational programs are hosted in the Cree Auditorium within the Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute. Patient education and support groups, such as Heart Well Forum, meet regularly in the Cree Auditorium. The facilities also enable Baylor to host regional and national training and education programs for health care professionals. The auditorium's technologically advanced facilities allow for interactive video-teleconferencing with connections to numerous operating and procedure rooms at Baylor.

Physicians speak to the general public at regularly scheduled informative sessions on a variety of topics including:

  • Innovations in heart surgery
  • The lowdown on high blood pressure
  • Understanding arrhythmia
  • Living with congestive heart failure
  • Strokes: What are the warning signs?
  • Heart-healthy nutrition

The F. Andrew Bell Clinical Library

The F. Andrew Bell Clinical Library houses a collection of books, periodicals and online medical journals. The library is available to doctors, nurses and other staff members. A medical librarian works with the staff and helps visitors to find the information they need.

The Lonnie "Bo" and Patty Pilgrim Prayer Room

During times of illness, reflection, faith, and prayer can be a rich and valuable resource. Through a generous gift from Lonnie "Bo" and Patty Pilgrim, patients, family and staff have access to the Pilgrim Prayer Room. It is in the shape of a heart, symbolic of the care that is given at Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital. It offers the opportunity to pray and meditate, to commune with your thoughts and with God in ways that are comfortable and familiar. The Pilgrim Prayer Room features a Prayer Journal. Visitors are invited to enter in a prayer request. Please feel free to use this very special resource as you have need during your visit at Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital. The prayer room is located on the Ground Floor the Heart Hospital.
